Zagreb County Regional Development Agency (ZACORDA) was founded by Zagreb County and 8 towns in Zagreb County: Dugo Selo, Ivanić-Grad, Jastrebarsko, Samobor, Sveti Ivan Zelina, Velika Gorica, Vrbovec and Zaprešić in 2004.  It was established  in order to optimize the development goals of Zagreb County in the process of Croatia's adjustment to EU programmes and regional structure. Strategic vision of ZACORDA is to support the rise of life standard for the residents of Zagreb County through development projects which support development of economy,SMEs, tourism and agriculture in the County.

The Agency has 8 employees working on development and implementation of projects of  the Zagreb County ( such as: implementation of Zagreb County Development  Strategy, creation of the Zagreb County project database, development of rural tourism etc.) and EU projects
(implemented project : one under Co-operation programme between Flanders and Central and Eastern Europe- call 2008.; applied: four for SAPPARD support 2009., one  under Co-operation programme between Flanders and Central and Eastern Europe- call 2009, 3 under cross-border cooperation Slovenia-Croatia).

Regarding the topic of renewable energy, the Agency represents the interests of the Zagreb County which prepared and implemented environmental protection and agriculture projects such as the Zagreb County Environmental Protection project. The project implementation consisted of the preparation of studies and expert analysis on environmental protection and physical planning. In partnership with the Hrvoje Pozar Energy Institute, the City of Zagreb, Karlovac County and Krapina-Zagorje County, the County and the Agency prepared the North-Western Croatia Energy Development Agency project (http://www.regea.org/about-us.html) which is being financed under Intelligent Energy Europe. The main purpose of the Energy Agency is the promotion and stimulation of sustainable energy development and environmental protection.
The Agency expects that the project “Reedem” will help improve agricultural industrial practices of Zagreb County through newly acquired knowledge on alternative energy production. Also, hopefully the project will help to promote public awareness on renewable energy and environment protection in Zagreb County and provide some relevant information on how to implement the experience of Flanders most effectively in the County. From the study trip in Flanders we expect to meet the people involved in renewable energy projects and see their production sites and maybe establish a cooperation with them which will enable our future business cooperation.
